How to Treat a Sore Throat during Pregnancy

Women should be more careful about their health during pregnancy. Most of the medications are not safe to take during pregnancy. Having a sore throat can be painful and frustrating to the mother and hence it should be taken care. Also sore throat is not uncommon during pregnancy for most of the mothers. Several methods of treatments are available as of today which dont cause any harm to the baby. Though many kinds of medications are available, natural remedies are always safe for pregnant ladies.

Treating the Cause of Sore Throat during Pregnancy

Often sore throat is occurred at the back of the throat drainage. Hence this congestion can be naturally treated by using a hot steam in the bathroom. Also one can place a warm and wet cloth over the nose and also can use nasal rinse available in drug stores. Also over the counter medications can be used safely during pregnancy.

Treating a Sore Throat Naturally during Pregnancy

The natural methods are safer for treating sore throat at pregnancy times. Some of the natural methods are suggested below.

1.Gargling saltwater will give a soothing effect for the sore throat.

2.Taking a spoon of honey straightly will help to reduce the pain caused by sore throat.

3.Taking orange juice will help a lot. Since it contains more of vitamin C it will help to get over from sore throat faster and also gives relief from pain.

4.Prepare some tea by ensuring it is decaf. Now add one teaspoon of honey and one teaspoon of lemon juice. Mix it together and sip it while hot.

5.Take some water in kettle and then boil it. Now add some ginger slices and prepare tea with that water as usual. Also adding lemon juice to this and sipping
when hot will remove the cold soon.

6.Some of the herbs like basil leaves will help a lot in curing sore throat during pregnancy. Take water full of a kettle and then add some crushed 15-20 basil
leaves and boil the solution for some time. Then strain it and cool it for some time. This solution can be gargled and can be consumed to cure sore throat.

7.Boil certain amount of water and add some coarse powder of cinnamon to it. Also some pepper can be added along with this and two teaspoons of natural honey.
Drinking this solution while it is warm will give a good effect.

8.Take a glass full of lukewarm milk, add some turmeric and drink it. Honey also can be added to this if needed. During pregnancy period a woman needs more
calcium and this solution provides calcium and also soothes the sore throat.
