The presence of hCG hormone in the urine is the key to detecting whether you are pregnant or not. Once fertilization occurs the level of hCG hormone increases. The levels are so minimal during the initial days and hence it is not detected. At least four hrs after urination would give you the best results. Most of the people do the home pregnancy test with the first urine in the morning since the hCG level in that would be more. After a few weeks the hCG level increases rapidly.
