How Does A Microwave Work

In a microwave oven the microwave energy is used to heat and cook the food. In a microwave oven you could find a lot of electrical circuits and mechanical devices that help in cooking and heating. Controls to control the power output are also available. Different interlocks and other protection devices are also found in it. In a microwave device the voltage is stepped up within the device and it is used to produce microwave energy. The microwave energy that is produced is directed toward the cooking area using wave guides which are made of metal. The microwaves thus produced act upon the water molecules in the food and produce heat within them. The over door has to be locked for the microwave oven to start operation. Such is the interlock provided in it. In some models of microwave oven there could be revolving antenna which produces microwave energy and in some models the food is rotated with the help of a carousel.
