Taking a backup of your computer means that you are storing the important files that you need in a separate storage that might be separate and not in your computer itself. The reason for taking backup is that you can restore the files needed when there is a hard disk crash or if you have lost the files due to some computer virus or worms. Do not ever think that you will fall prey to such crashes. It could happen anytime. So it is better to take a backup of your important files periodically. Floppy diskettes are being used less and less now-a-days; hence it is always better to use a CDROM to take a backup of your data from your computer. You can invoke your CD writing program and add the files to the CD. If you are in a network you can also backup your data in some other computer within the network.
Now-a-days portable hard disks are also available. You can also use such hard disks to backup the files needed. Memory is becoming cheaper day by day and it is not difficult to buy one device that has large storage capacity. If you want to backup files of low size then you can very well take a backup of that online too using the internet. There is not need for storage devices if you take backup online. It is also easy to restore whenever you need.
