The word antipasti means before the meal . In an Italian meal the antipasto is the first item that is served which may serve as a starter for the meal. It is a tradition that they start with the antipasti and then proceed with each of the other meal. These are served before the start of the dinner. Usually a central plate with the antipasti is placed in the dinning table. There are many items that come in this category.
Some of them are marinated vegetables, pepperoni, cured meats, different types of cheeses, mozzarella, bruschetta, bread toast etc. Canning the antipasti can also be done at home but not all dishes can be canned. Only the freshly made items should be canned. You can have to boil the jars for at least 20 minutes before you can the food in them. When you are canning any oily items in the jars make sure that there is no oil dripping in the mouth of the jars. Otherwise it will be difficult to can them.
